NSO Group -Pegasus Spyware

Pegasus, developed by NSO Group, is perhaps the most powerful spyware ever created. It is designed to infiltrate smartphones — Android and iOS — and turn them into surveillance devices.

At the time of this writing, there is no way to stop this from happening. Spyware is stored in volatile memory and deleted when the phone is turned off. Regular powering off of your Smartphone will remove any spyware on it. IT does not however prevent it from being re-injected.

Spyware is any malicious software designed to enter your computer device, gather your data, and forward it to a third party without your consent. This tracking software does just that and in addition tracks you.

Pegasus exploits undiscovered vulnerabilities, or bugs, in Android and iOS. Until these bugs are found, Pegasus can attack any phone.

Right now, this software is supposedly only being sold to government agencies. But, once it is used for that use, the door is open for others to use it.

This spyware is a Zero-Click attack, which means it does not require the user to push anything, or click anything. One instance was explained – the software sent a missed call to WhatsApp. The missed call was then deleted. The recipient could not tell that anything happened.

Hopefully the phone OS’s will get on board and write code to prevent this type of attack.
